How did I work?

Hoe ging ik te werk?

For this assignment, we dealt with climate change. I decided to work around overpopulation. The wood was first given a bright red colour and then worked on with a white marker. The figuration on the pieces consisted of all kinds of silhouettes of a head. After this, I went on to trace all the pieces I had made from cardboard over onto the wood and cut them out. I chose to put the different pieces of wood together in an organic way, creating a kind of infinite tower. All the pieces stack up just like the population and it just keeps growing. But where does it stop?

Voor deze opdracht gingen we te werk met klimaatverandering. Ik besloot te werken rond overpopulatie. Het hout kreeg eerst een felle rode kleur en werd daarna bewerkt met een witte marker. De figuratie op de stukken bestaat uit allerlei silhouetten van een hoofd. Hierna ging ik alle stukken die ik uit karton had gemaakt overtekenen op het hout en uitsnijden. Ik koos ervoor om de verschillende stukken hout op een organische manier in elkaar te zetten waardoor je een soort oneindige toren bekomt. Alle stukjes stapelen net zoals de bevolking op en het blijft maar groeien. Maar waar stopt het?
